Cress Kilns

Cress features a wide variety of kilns. Most all units are available with their patented FIREMATE^®or fully automatic state of the art electronic controllers.

FIREMATE^®models have a speed control switch which increases the power to the kiln smoothly and evenly from low to high automatically. This reduces the risk of thermal shock which can cause cracking and crazing. The Firemate^® can also be turned off for manual operation. A Dawson Kiln Sitter^{® is used as the shut-off device.}

Electronic models are user friendly and fully automatic, do not require Cones or a Kiln Sitter^® . They turn up and shut off automatically with your choice of 5 speeds. Automatic start control can be delayed up to 100 hours, allowing you to determine what time of the day or night your kiln will start the firing process. These kilns have numerous features that will make your firing experience easy and enjoyable. They have proven to be very reliable.

MODEL 911
This apartment size Kiln is ideal for those with limited space or for small firing projects such as jewelry making or for china firing one or two Porcelain Doll heads etc. Although it operates on 115 volts a dedicated 20 amp. circuit is required. Consult your electrician or Ceramic & Crafts Supply Co.
This model is available with a single speed FIREMATE controller and Dawson Kiln Sitter^®or a 3 speed electronic controller.

MODEL 1814
An effective size for the ambitious hobbyist or the professional working with smaller items. Several complete porcelain dolls can be bisque fired in this kiln at one time. Drawing only 19 amps. and operating on 208/240 volts this Kiln will function well on a converted home dryer circuit. U.L. Listed.

MODEL 23
This is the most popular choice of those desiring an intermediate size Kiln for ceramics and Porcelain Doll making. It is the largest Kiln recommended for home use without extensive electrical upgrading. However, most late model homes will probably have adequate power to handle larger Kilns. The model E23 is the same size as the FX23. However, the electronic E23 has 5 heating elements instead of 4 making it a very powerful unit. It is also dual voltage which means that it will operate on either 208 or 240 volts. It draws 36 amps and requires a 50 amp circuit.

Cress kilns are guaranteed for three years from date of purchase to the original purchaser against defects in material or workmanship. If any part, including heating elements* should fail within the three year warranty period it will be replaced free of charge by Ceramics & Crafts Supply Co or Cress Manufacturing. This warranty does not include on-site labor.**
Cress Manufacturing is the only kiln manufacturer that guarantees it’s heating elements.
*Only one set of failed heating elements will be replaced during the warranty period.

FRONT LOADER
Industrial type kiln with a hobby kiln price. This 10.5 cubit foot, cone 10 kiln is constructed with a heavy-duty angle iron frame and 4 inches of energy efficient multibank insulated walls. Its 24" x 24" x 31.5" tall firing chamber has an arched roof that is usually reserved for much more expensive industrial kilns. The arched roof prevents sagging and adds years to the life of the kiln. The self locking door has a kaowool rope door seal to prevent air leaks and opens and closes as easy as a refrigerator door. Symmetrically aligned elements are balanced for heat uniformity front to back and top to bottom.

CRESS CLEAN AIR VENT SYSTEM
The Cress Clean Air Exhaust System is a patented mulitport venting system that requires no additional wiring since it plugs easily into the bottom of the control panel. The vent turns on automatically when the kiln starts then shuts off automatically with the shutting down of the kiln. On the E model Electronic Kilns, the vent is operated automatically by the computer and starts when the kiln starts. When the kiln reaches your target temperature and shuts off, the vent also shuts off and remains off until the kiln cools to 1000 degrees. At that time the vent will automatically start up again and fast cool the kiln to 140 degrees and then shut down.

The Clean Air Vent System improves firing conditions because fresh air is drawn into the kiln through the self venting lid, gasses and fumes are vented out multiple ports positioned throughout the kiln, from top to bottom. It removes unpleasant fumes from the room while drawing oxygen into the kiln which produces pure, more natural colors and maintains a more even temperature throughout. Since the system exhausts fumes and gasses from all levels of the kiln, not just the bottom, oxygen is circulated more evenly and the temperature remains constant from top to bottom.
